My family has a history of cancer, and so, I needed some type of plan in place to help me in the
event I get into a situation like cancer or other medical/disabling event. Traditional Long-term
Care (LTC) plans never resonated with me because of the increasing costs and the underlying
restrictions and limitations. It wasn’t until I attended a training event that I learned about the X
Life Plan by Exertus. The X Life Plan, also known as Living Benefits, gives an individual the power to access a portion of their policy’s death benefit while they’re still living, provided they meet certain specified medical criteria: Critical, Specified Medical Condition, Chronic, and Terminal. I learned that the X Life Plan did not have the restrictions that traditional LTC plans have, which I valued. Today, I have a peace of mind knowing that if I get into a medical or disability situation, I’ll be protected.

On February 17, 2017 I retired from my full time job. On February 20, 2017 I had a “widow
maker” heart attack. The emergency room surgeon and staff saved my life that day. I was
unable to work for several months but the bills continued to come due every month.
Fortunately, I had purchased a Life Insurance policy years before the heart attack. That policy has a Living Benefits Rider included in the policy. I was able to activate that benefit and receive a portion of my death benefit to pay bills until I was healthy enough to work again. Stress was a major cause of my heart attack and because of the ability to use the Living Benefits Rider of my insurance policy, I did not have the added stress of trying to pay bills while I was recuperating. I recommend everyone purchase a life insurance policy and make sure it contains a Living Benefits Rider.

As we age the risk for catastrophic illness is higher. I have heard and know of a lot of people having cancer, Stroke , Heart attack, and many other illnesses. I am happy I have a plan in place just in case, it is not like I am expecting this to happen, but in case I get sick I know I will have the resources to help me financially if needed.
